Digital Transformation in Healthcare

The SDA Bocconi team, project coordinator of the HEU-EFS project, participated in the XXIX National Conference organized by the Italian Health Economics Association (AIES) entitled “Digital Transformation in Healthcare: Accelerating Access, Fostering Equity and Performance”, which took place in Naples from December 9-10, 2024.

The XXIX National Conference is a premier event that brings together experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss and advance health economics in Italy and beyond.

Collaborative Efforts: The conference featured the joint work of 22 public and private partners that aim to create a harmonised EFS program to facilitate and accelerate the development and adoption of innovative medical devices in the EU. Their insights into healthcare challenges, patient needs, and the role of innovation will be crucial in shaping discussions on health economics and sustainable healthcare systems.

Digital Transformation in Healthcare: The Bocconi team presented the HEU-EFS project in a dedicated session entitled “Setting Up a Framework for Early Feasibility Studies in the European Union: What Value(s)?” Carlo Federici coordinated the session, which included interventions from Maria Luisa Buzelli on “Challenges and barriers to pre-market clinical investigations of medical devices: a systematic literature review,” Francesco Malandrini on “Pre-market approval pathways for clinical investigations of medical devices: a global perspective,” and Franco Luigi Zurlo on “State of the art of Early Feasibility Studies for medical devices.”
